North Stradbroke Island is easily accessible by a range of private and/or public transport options. Passenger and car ferries run daily to and from the Island, and the Research Station is only a short drive or walk from the ferry terminals. All passenger and vehicle ferries to the Island depart from Toondah Harbour in Cleveland. Toondah Harbour is located at the junction of Middle and Emmett Streets in Cleveland.
Although passenger ferries do not require forward booking, large groups should ring ahead to ensure space is available. Bookings should always be made for transporting vehicles on car ferries. Please inform MBRS of your arrival and departure times on your booking form and make prior arrangements if your arrival is outside normal office hours (8:30am-5:30pm).
Major arterial roads to Cleveland are well signed whether you are travelling from the City, or the north or south coasts. Old Cleveland Road is the main road into Cleveland from the City. Free public car parking is available at Toondah Harbour. A secure car parking area is available at a fee through Stradbroke Ferries (phone +61 7 3488 5300).
