The Division of Materials at The University of Queensland and Materials Australia had pleasure in hosting a Materials Networking Event on Wednesday, 29 April 2009, at The University of Queensland. All UQ Materials Alumni, Materials Australia members, current Materials Engineering students and staff from all Queensland universities, industry representatives and friends were invited to attend. Between 6 and 8 pm there were drinks and canapés in the foyer of UQ Frank White Building. There were brief presentations by Dr Jeff Gates of UQMP, Dr Ian Dover of the Simpler Business Institute and Dr Shengjun Zhou of Maunsell Australia Pty Ltd concerning their experiences as Materials Professionals. CMPS certificates were presented by Prof Richard Clegg (CQU, President Qld Branch of Materials Australia) and Prof David StJohn (UQ and President Materials Australia).
 
Between 8 and 10 pm there was a formal CMP Dinner at the UQ Staff and Graduates Club during which there was an address by Prof David StJohn, President, Materials Australia on the CMP program and future visions.
