Directions to UQ Herston
The Herston Campus is adjacent to the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital (RBWH) and Royal Children's Hospitals (RCH) at Herston and is less than 5 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD.
By Bicycle
Bicycle access to Herston from Brisbane City includes a short on-road section through the CBD, before joining a dedicated bikeway at Roma Street Parklands for approximately three kilometres. The total journey to Herston is approximately 9 kilometres.
The RBWH Cycle Centre provides services and facilities for staff and visitors. It is located under the RBWH Busway Station, adjacent to Bowen Bridge Road.
By Bus
Regular Brisbane City Council bus services operate frequently to and from the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital and Royal Children's Hospital.
Travelling from UQ's St Lucia Campus requires a change of bus in the City.
Closest bus stops are located near the RCH on Herston Road (just a few minutes walk to the Schools of Medicine and Population Health) and at the RBHW on Bowen Bridge Road, including the RCH Herston Busway Station which accesses the Inner Northern Busway.

By Train
Two train stations are located within 1.5km walk of the Campus, at Bowen Hills and Fortitude Valley. Timetables are available from Queensland Rail.
By Taxi
Two taxi ranks service the hospital precinct. They are located on Herston Road, near the intersection with Bowen Bridge Road (opposite the multi-level car park) and adjacent to the RBWH Entrance on Butterfield Street.
Parking
Parking around the Herston area and the hospital complex is regulated. Some metered parking is available along the Mayne Medical School access road. Three multi-level car parks offer undercover paid parking:
- Metro carpark is situated in Butterfield Street, next to the Ned Hanlon building and is the closest carpark to the main hospital buildings. An undercover walkway links this carpark to Level 1 of the Ned Hanlon building (centre block).
- Wilson carpark is situated at the junction of Gilchrist Avenue and Herston Road.
- Royal Children's Hospital Metro carpark is located on Bramston Terrace and is the closest parking facility to the Schools of Medicine, Population Health and Nursing & Midwifery.
