 Scholarships and Financial Assistance


There are a number of avenues for obtaining financial assistance for studies, including a range of Scholarships. These include:
  • Australian Postgraduate Awards/University of Queensland Postgraduate Research Scholarships
  • University of Queensland Re-Entry Scholarships
  • University of Queensland Graduate School Awards (UQGSA)

International Scholarship Scheme

Faculties may offer tuition fee scholarships to international students according to their strategic priorities, within the following parameters:

  1. Faculties may offer such scholarships as part of their internationalisation plans.
  2. Eligibility for such scholarships should be limited to those international students from institutions or particular regions with which the Faculty wishes to build a stronger partnership commitment. New scholarships would not be provided to existing international students who have already commenced a UQ program.
  3. The scheme applies to undergraduate, postgraduate coursework or higher degree research students, (in the last case providing funding only for one year.
  4. Academic merit shall be a major determinant of eligibility within the context of the strategic intent of the scheme.
  5. Tuition fee scholarships may be awarded only on a full (100%) or partial (50%) basis.

The following policies and procedures will be used to guide the award of these scholarships:

  1. The scholarships will be used to attract new students to the Faculty.
  2. (a) The main target countries are: Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, China.
    (b) A number of scholarships will be available preferentially to the SEARCA Universities, namely: Institut Pertanian, Bogor, Indonesia (IPB); Gadja Mada University, Indonesia (GM); Kasetsart University, Thailand (KU); Universiti Putra, Malaysia (UPM); University of Philippines, Los Banos, Philippines (UPLB).
  3. The principal target for award will be postgraduate coursework programs, with a substantially lower number of awards to undergraduate programs.
  4. A minor number of awards may be made to support MPhil programs.
  5. Within each target group or program, the award of scholarships will be primarily merit based.
  6. Full-fee or half-fee scholarships may be awarded on a merit basis.
  7. Scholarships may also be awarded for students undertaking courses in distance mode.
  8. The availability of scholarships will be advertised and relevant Universities and students will also be informed.
  9. Selection be take place through a consolidation  process twice a year.
  10. Scholarships will be administered through the Faculty Office.
