The School of Physical Sciences seeks to appoint an experienced research academic in Quantum Information Science.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative person with internationally recognized research achievement, and a willingness to supervise postgraduate students in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics.
The successful applicant will join an exciting team led by Michael Nielsen in the University of Queensland's Quantum Information Science Initiative. The School also hosts a node of the Australian Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computer Technology, which supports theoretical and experimental projects based around two potential quantum computing architectures: Kane solid state and linear optics quantum computing.
You must possess postgraduate qualifications (PhD level or equivalent) in theoretical physics, mathematics or computer science and will have established a reputation for world class research in quantum information science in one or more of the following areas:
Quantum computation
Quantum control
Quantum algorithms
Quantum information theory
Appointment will be made at either level B (Research Fellow), level C (Senior Research Fellow), or level D (Principal Research Fellow), depending on qualifications and experience. If made at level B the appointment will be for a fixed term of three years, while at levels C and D the appointment will be for a fixed term of five years.
The remuneration package for Level B will be in the range of $69,895 - $83,000 per annum, including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. The remuneration package for Level C will be in the range of $85,621 - $98,726 per annum, including employer superannuation contributions of 17%. The remuneration package for Level D will be in the range of $103,094 - $113,579 per annum, including employer superannuation contributions of 17%.
