The Condensed Matter Physics Group at the University of Queensland is currently focused on experimental aspects of soft condensed matter systems and on the condensed matter theory of hard, soft and biological systems. The group works within UQ's Physics Department, which also conducts research in the areas of laser physics, quantum information processing, astrophysics, astronomy and geophysics.

The field of Condensed Matter Physics is becoming more and more advanced, and the group is looking at developing new experimental facilities for the synthesis and testing of new materials, and the fabrication and characterisation of devices based upon functional soft materials.

In the role of Research Officer you will be expected to drive the development and maintenance of our new laboratories, and to assist in the experimental work of the Condensed Matter Physics Group. You would also be encouraged to contribute to the research output of the group.

You should possess a tertiary level qualification in the engineering, physical or chemical sciences and/or have a demonstrated experience in experimental laboratory management in an academic or industrial environment. Additionally, experience in computer programming and interfacing computers and scientific equipment is desirable.

This is a full-time appointment at Academic Level A for a period of 2 years, with a possible extension to 3 years. The remuneration package will be in the range of $47,526 - $64,466 per annum which includes employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary.
