TOURS & INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR NEW STUDENTS
Over the next month, The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus will host free tours of campus facilities and buildings for prospective students, their families and friends, and interested members of the public. New students enrolling in 2007 are also encouraged to attend a New to UQ information session before taking the tour. The information sessions are designed to allow students the opportunity to learn more about UQ and university life and familiarise themselves with the Campus prior to the commencement of semester one. Students can then follow the information session with a free guided campus tour. See http://www.uq.edu.au/ipswich/index.html?page=56228&pid=24293 for more information.

As, the coordinator of Student Support Services at the Ipswich campus I am keen to work with you to support our students in the pursuit of their education. To give you an idea of some of the services Student Support Services provides, here is an outline of my particular role and I would encourage you to contact me, if you can see further ways that we can work together.

The Personal and Careers Counsellor (Diana Cogill ext: 11702) seeks to encourage students to develop life skills aimed at:

·          improving job search strategies (writing resumes and job applications, answering selection criteria & practicing for job interviews), and
·          devising and implementing graduate career plans.

I am happy to run workshops for your students on any of these issues, to see students individually or to email with them. My email address is d.cogill@uq.edu.au
