IPSWICH TAKES MORE THAN ONE BITE OF THE APPLE
Two academics from The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus are among 20 nationwide who have won scholarships to attend the upcoming Apple Computer World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC). Ann Morrison and Matthew Simpson from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE) will join 18 other academics from around Australia in securing scholarships from the Apple University Consortium (AUC) to attend the Conference, to be held in San Francisco in August. ARTWORKS CARVE SITE’S HISTORY
History will be carved at The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus this week when artwork by a patient of the former Ipswich Hospital for the Insane is celebrated. Peter Harley, a patient from 1907 to 1941 at the Ipswich Hospital for the Insane, later named the Challinor Centre, carved an Honour Board and mirror frame which will be unveiled at a morning tea at the Ipswich Campus on Friday, June 30. SEMESTER 2: LEARNING MATERIALS SUBMISSION DUE NOW
TEDI wishes to remind Ipswich course coordinators that submission of learning materials (both print and online) for semester 2,2006 are due NOW. Course coordinators who are new to Ipswich should note that the production of Ipswich course materials is funded centrally and will not be charged to your school or faculty.
 
Due to the introduction of Electronic Course Profiles (ECP) for Semester 2, 2006, TEDI will make available electronic files of current course profiles for school or faculty staff members that require them. Updates previously sent to TEDI for course profiles for Semester 2, 2006, will be completed but will not be printed. An electronic version of your course profile will be sent via email to the lecturer or contact person named for each course so they can copy the relevant sections into the ECP.

TRISAFE AUDIT
Later this year the Ipswich Campus will be audited as part of a comprehensive safety audit of the University carried out by Trisafe. Further advice will follow.
 
 
CHANGE TO TEDI IPSWICH PRODUCTION MANAGER

WINDOW CLEANING (PROPERTY & FACILITIES)
Window cleaning for Buildings 1, 8 and 12 will commence Monday, 3 July and will be completed by Saturday, 8 July 2006. The work will be undertaken by All Industrial Abseilers.
 
 
EMBLEMATIC SALE - UQ BOOKSHOP
The UQ Bookshop at the Ipswich Campus is having a pre-Graduation Sale on various emblematic items including clothing, from 30%-60%. The Ipswich UQ Bookshop hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 9am - 4pm and Fridays 9am - 3pm and is located in Building 10.
 
 
JUNIOR SPORT HOLIDAY CLINICS AT IPSWICH
Junior sport holiday clinics will be offered at the Ipswich campus for the first time this month from June 26-30. The exciting multi sport program developed by UQ Sport will cater for children aged 6-12 years in full day or half day format. The clinic will focus on a different sport each day including touch football, netball, soccer, cricket and volleyball. Children will enjoy UQ Ipswich’s high class sporting facilities under the tuition of high calibre, accredited instructors.Instructors will teach children the rules, skills, and strategies of each sport. These skills will then be put to the test in a game situation. The Effective Teaching & Learning (ETL) Conference 2006 is on 2 and 3 November. This year the Conference theme is “21st Century University Teaching and Learning: Continuing the conversation”.  Submissions are encouraged for an abstract for consideration by the Conference Committee by 10 July 2006.  Abstracts for paper presentations, symposia and workshops of no more than 300 words should be submitted to etl2006@uq.edu.au as Word attachments. FIRE WARDEN TRAINING
All staff are invited to undertake Fire Warden Training organised by The Fire Safety Unit in P&F.  The Warden training for Ipswich Campus will be held on July 3 in Rm 307 Building 6201.  Please register through the TEDI website.  The training format has been revamped and new material included to keep it interesting. All staff are invited to attend.  This is particularly relevant to academic staff who are in charge of classes when a fire alarm sounds.
 
 
MID YEAR GRADUATION CEREMONIES
The Ipswich Campus Mid Year Graduation Ceremonies will be held at the Ipswich Civic Hall on Monday, 17 July. This year will see the first graduates from the UQ Nursing Program.
