SIGN UP FOR MEDIA AWARENESS TRAINING AT IPSWICH
The Office of Marketing and Communications will run an intensive media awareness training session at UQ Ipswich from 12.30–4pm on Wednesday, June 28. The workshop, for up to six people, is designed for University academics, PhD students and senior staff. Topics include how the media operates, what journalists expect and how the University can develop good relationships with media. Participants will be able to practise media interview skills. Charles is a foundation staff member of the Ipswich Campus and we would like to recognise this special occasion. Last opportunity for influenza vaccination! The free influenza vaccination program for UQ staff will cease on Tuesday 22 June. Appointments are currently available on Tuesday 22 June. The University Health Service at UQ Ipswich will close on 24 June for approximately two weeks whilst rectification works for the building are in progress.

The Effective Teaching & Learning (ETL) Conference 2006 is on 2 and 3 November. This year the Conference theme is “21st Century University Teaching and Learning: Continuing the conversation”. Submissions are encouraged for an abstract for consideration by the Conference Committee by 10 July 2006. Abstracts for paper presentations, symposia and workshops of no more than 300 words should be submitted to etl2006@uq.edu.au as Word attachments. FIRE WARDEN TRAINING
All staff are invited to undertake Fire Warden Training organised by The Fire Safety Unit in P&F. The Warden training for Ipswich Campus will be held on July 3 in Rm 307 Building 6201. Please register through the TEDI website. The training format has been revamped and new material included to keep it interesting.
MID YEAR GRADUATION CEREMONIES
The Ipswich Campus Mid Year Graduation Ceremonies will be held at the Ipswich Civic Hall on Monday, 17 July. This year will see the first graduates from the UQ Nursing Program.
