INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR NEW STAFF AT THE IPSWICH CAMPUS
All academic and general staff who will be working on the Ipswich campus in 2007 are encouraged to register for the Induction for staff new to Ipswich campus on February 14. Academic staff are also encouraged to register for the Induction for academics new to Ipswich, which is also being held on the 14th. The courses are designed to give all staff (including sessional and casual staff) an introduction to the unique features of the Ipswich campus, including key contacts for campus services and issues of teaching and learning at Ipswich. Morning tea and lunch will be provided, and will be an opportunity for informal networking.
The courses will run on Wednesday February 14 in the Seminar Room (room 307) in Building 1. UQSOPA BREAKFAST “WHAT I DO IN MY JOB”
UQSOPA is very pleased to advise that its first “what do I do in my job” breakfast is on Tuesday, 20 February at 7.15 am for 7.30 am in the Duhig Dining Room at St Leo’s College, St Lucia Campus.  Guest Speaker is Professor Kevin Clements, Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies and Foundation Director of the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at The University of Queensland.  Kevin’s address, entitled “what’s a nice guy doing in a job like this” promises to be very interesting.   RSVP to Raewyn Peeti on telephone 11002 (email r.peeti@uq.edu.au) before Friday, 16 February.  Cost for UQSOPA members is $15 and for non-members $18.00. 
 
 
TEDI ASSESSMENT WORKSHOPS – EARLY SEMESTER 1, 2007
Keeping up to date with Assessment will be held on Thursday 15 February at 1pm at TEDI. This session is designed to provide program and course coordinators with up-to-date information on UQ assessment policies and guidelines. To register, click here. UQ GREEN OFFICE INFORMATION SESSION
UQ’s Environmental Services, Property & Facilities Division invites staff to a Green Office Program Information Session on Tuesday, 24 April. The session will be held in the Seminar Room, Level 3, Building 8 at 10am. See attached for further information including rsvp details.
 
 
TILING REPAIRS IN BUILDING 12
Please note work has commenced on repairing the toilets in Building 12. Initially, toilets on levels 1 and 3 will be affected and will reopen on or before Friday, 23 February. After this time, the toilets on Level 2 will be closed for repair, requiring them to be closed for the first three weeks of semester.
 
 
FIRE WARDEN TRAINING
Fire Warden Training for 2007 will be held on Thursday 14 June from 10am – 12pm in the  Seminar Room, Level 3 Building 8.  There will be a morning tea break at 11am.  Registration is through TEDI at http://www.tedi.uq.edu.au/sdh/index.asp?ProgramType=&Program=PEOFS&course=OFS000
 
 
TOURS & INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR NEW STUDENTS
Over the next month, The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus will host free tours of campus facilities and buildings for prospective students, their families and friends, and interested members of the public. New students enrolling in 2007 are also encouraged to attend a New to UQ information session before taking the tour. The information sessions are designed to allow students the opportunity to learn more about UQ and university life and familiarise themselves with the Campus prior to the commencement of semester one. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FIRST YEAR ARTS, BEL & SBS STUDENTS IN 2007
Students enrolling to study in the Faculties of Arts, Business, Economics & Law or Social & Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus in 2007 are encouraged to apply for the UQ Ipswich First Year Scholarships. ZONTA CLUB OF WEST MORETON BREAKFAST
The Zonta Club of West Moreton Area invites staff to the International Women's Day UNIFEM Breakfast on Thursday, 8 March. The theme will be “Women in Work” with guest speaker Debra Black, Regional Sales Manager Qld, SA, WA Schering Plough Pty Ltd. The breakfast will be held at the Ipswich International Hotel from 6.30am, proceeds will be directed toward UNIFEM Australia Projects. For tickets, see attached flyer.
 
 
STAFF, STUDENTS & FAMILIES INVITED TO FREE BRIDGE DAY
Bike, bus or walk to UQ on Sunday, February 25 to celebrate the Eleanor Schonell Bridge Fun Day. In a packed program from 10am to 2pm, all the family can discover the St Lucia campus and its facilities while enjoying free entertainment, activities and interactive displays. The free Bridge Fun Day will be run by the University in partnership with Brisbane City Council and is sponsored by Quest Community Newspapers.
