DIVERSITY WEEK 2007 AT THE IPSWICH CAMPUS
Please find attached information regarding Diversity Week activities at the Ipswich Campus next week, from Mary 14 to 18. All staff and students are encouraged to be involved in the activities, which include:

DIVERSITY WEEK AWARDS 2007
Please find attached information regarding Diversity Week 2007, including an invitation to the Vice-Chancellor’s Equity and Diversity Awards at the UQ Centre on May 16. Staff and students are encouraged to attend this exciting event which is free of charge. Academic staff are also requested to encourage their students to participate. 40TH ANNIVERSARY – 1967 REFERENDUM DINNER
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit, in partnership with Goorie Berrimpa Student Collective & UQ Union, is hosting the 40th Anniversary – 1967 Referendum Dinner on Friday, 25 May from 6.30 – 10.30pm at the UQ Centre. Details, which include payment information, are attached.
IPSWICH POSTGRADUATE NETWORK MEETING
The UQ Ipswich Postgraduate Support Network would like to encourage all postgraduates at Ipswich to attend the second meeting for 2007, which is a seminar on 'Preparing for Confirmation' to be held in the Staff and Graduate Lounge, Level 3, Building 8 tomorrow, Wednesday, 9 May from 4pm. The event will feature the following speakers:
- Associate Professor Donna Pendergast from the School of Education. Donna has acted as Chair for previous Confirmation Panels
- Sarah Davies. Sarah is a postgrad who has undergone the confirmation process.

SASD SEMINAR – WELCOME TO STUDENT ADMINISTRATION & ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATION

IPSWICH ALUMNI NETWORK WINE TASTING EVENING
The Ipswich Alumni Network will host their annual fundraising Wine Tasting Evening at the Ipswich Campus on Thursday, 31 May. Proceeds raised from the event will be directed at fundraising efforts by the Alumni to award the annual Alumni and Friends of UQ Ipswich Scholarship at the Ipswich Campus. Come along and enjoy a selection of wines for sample, as well as the opportunity to purchase these wines at great prices. Payment details are outlined in the attached invitation.
FAREWELL TO ANNA HAY
Staff are invited to bid a fond farewell to Campus Operations Officer Anna Hay this Wednesday, 9 May. Anna has officially resigned from her position at UQ. Anna’s farewell will be held at the Campus Café from 4pm til late, with some food and drinks supplied. Please RSVP to Anna by the morning of Friday, 4 May for catering purposes. ENJOY OFFICE PROFESSIONALS’ DAY LUNCH
The Association celebrates Office Professionals' Day on May 16 with lunch in the Kathleen Room, UQ Staff and Graduates Club, St Lucia from 12 noon. Guest speaker Professor Ian Frazer will discuss reducing your risk of cancer. Managers can recognise the contributions of secretaries and office professionals by accompanying them (and even paying) for lunch. Cost: $32 members, $45 non-members. IPSWICH TERTIARY TASTE PROGRAM
The University of Queensland, University of Southern Queensland and The Bremer Institute of TAFE are collaboratively offering a Tertiary Taste Program for students with a disability who are considering undertaking studies at TAFE or university. This 2 day program will provide information such as the support services available for people with a disability at TAFE and university, alternative pathways into tertiary education and enrolment procedures. Participants will be able to experience a university lecture or TAFE class during the program. This program is for students who have a strong interest in furthering their education at a certificate III level or above and have a disability. LECTURERS/CLINICAL FACILITATORS SOUGHT FOR RESEARCH
Researchers are seeking lecturers/clinical facilitators who have supervised health science students with symptoms of emotional problems. This research is a qualitative study looking at feelings about this experience and coping strategies. Participation will involve a 1-1½ hour interview. STAFF DEVELOPMENT – LEADERSHIP INSIGHTS USING THE ENNEAGRAM
The Leadership Insights will introduce the Enneagram, a powerful tool describing nine distinctly different personality profiles. The Enneagram is invaluable in creating more effective leaders and teams by helping you to understand yourself and others. It improves management, communication, productivity, motivation and development of staff and assists in keeping people working cooperatively. This 2-day workshop will be presented on 14 and 15 May 2007 between 9am and 5pm in the Riverview Room, Emmanuel College on the St Lucia campus. Places are limited - please register online.
