There will be smiles on the faces of many students from The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus this week when the campus hosts its annual Scholarship and Prize Ceremony.
Over 30 students will be awarded as the 2008 recipients of the campus’ scholarships and prizes; the funding from which totals over $50,000.
The funding will be dispersed at the campus’ annual Scholarship and Prize Ceremony, to be held this Wednesday, 21 May.
The 2008 recipients will join their friends, families and supporters at the annual ceremony, which is designed to officially congratulate the students and acknowledge the support of the many scholarship and prize donors.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Alan Rix said many of the scholarship and prize donors were sourced from the Ipswich region, and included donation of annual scholarships totalling $5000 each.
He said such funding was testament to the incredible generosity of local organisations and businesses, who continued to support the campus and its students.
“These scholarships and prizes not only provide a financial reward, but also recognise the hard work, dedication and achievement of our students,” he said.
“The campus is indeed appreciative of the support by local businesses, organisations and individuals in allowing us to be able to provide such recognition.”
The 2008 ceremony will mark the first year the Children First Learning Centre Scholarship will be awarded to a meritorious student in the Bachelor of Education (Middle Years of Schooling).
