 Staff Accounts

  • Are you a new staff member?
If you're a new staff member, changing Organisational Unit or campus you need to fill out an IT Induction form. This will assist ITS in setting up your account to have correct permissions and access, and place a request for desktop support (if required).

  • Username and passwords
Permanent staff will have a username and password created automatically from Aurion data. Staff who are not permanent will need to have an account created by local admin staff or UQconnect. Visiting staff and staff associates will need to submit an authorisation form from their organisational unit. If you haven't received your username or require a password reset you can contact ITS Ipswich on 11230 or uqi.its.clientliaison@uq.edu.au.

  • Security questions
If you ever have to contact the HelpDesk or ITS Ipswich about your account you will be required to verify your identity via your security question and answer. A well thought out question can greatly enhance your online security. You can set your security question by going to the UQconnect page.

  • Email
All staff have an email address with 500MB of mail storage. You can access this through Microsoft Outlook or by logging into http://my.uq.edu.au (choose myMail tab). If you're not on campus and don't have VPN connected you will need to put in UQ as the domain. For example in the domain/username field, and your username is uqjcitz, you will need to put 'UQ\uqjcitz'.   If you would like assistance setting up Outlook, you can request IT assistance by contacting the HelpDesk.  If you would like to set this up yourself, either at home or on campus you can find the guides on the HelpDesk page.

  • H drive access - Connecting to Ipswich File Shares
All staff have an H drive that can be accessed from both home and work. This H drive is a personal drive given to all staff members with 5GB of storage.  All data on your H drive is backed up each night so it is more reliable than saving documents on your computer.  You can map a connection to your H drive to your computer, which is useful for regular use.

  • Shared drive access
Some Staff have a Shared (S:) drive that can be accessed from both home and work. All data on your S drive is backed up each night so it is more reliable than saving documents on your computer.  Just like your H drive, you can  map a connection to your S drive on your computer.

  • Download quota (to access external websites)
All staff have unlimited quota that is setup automatically when your UQ username and password is created. Do be aware that you must follow the University's Internet Code of Conduct while using the University's facilities.
