1. The Bursary is awarded annually by the Ipswich Campus on the recommendation of a selection committee consisting of:
(a) the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ipswich or nominee; and
(b) at least one representative from the Ipswich Campus as nominated by the Pro-Vice Chancellor Ipswich; and
(c) at least one representative from the Rotary Club of Ipswich City.
2. The Bursary is open to students who are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program at the Ipswich Campus under the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences and who:
(a) are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia; and
(b) are current residents of Ipswich city, Esk, Laidley or Boonah shires; and
(c) have completed at one calendar year of study at the Ipswich Campus and are enrolled to study the subsequent year at the Campus in the chosen program under the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences; and
(d) able to demonstrate financial need
3. The Bursary is awarded to an eligible applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by:
(a) past academic achievement in the chosen field of study; and
(b) personal qualities, including contribution to the Ipswich community; and
(c) other such evidence as may be deemed relevant to the professional success of the applicant.
4. The Bursary is tenable for one year, subject to satisfactory academic progress and continued enrolment at the Ipswich Campus.
5. The value of the Bursary will be $2000.
6. The Bursary cannot be held concurrently with any other scholarship or bursary valued at or more than $5000 annually.
7. The Bursary is established for a period of three years with its continuity contingent on a review at the end of that period.
8. The Bursary will be presented to the successful candidate by the incumbent President of the Rotary Club of Ipswich City.
9. The successful candidate will be required to attend a meeting of the Rotary Club of Ipswich City as a guest speaker and develop close links with the Club throughout the duration of the bursary year.
10. Applications, to the UQ Ipswich Marketing & Development Manager, UQ Ipswich, 11 Salisbury Road, Ipswich, should be made in writing, along with a curriculum vitae which addresses the following:
- University academic record; and
- any special academic achievements or awards within studies at the University of Queensland or any other secondary or tertiary institution; and
- any other notable personal achievements including community involvement; and
- career ambitions.
