The UQ Ipswich Campus is now offering a major in nutrition as part of the Bachelor of Health Sciences.
To meet the demand for preventive health workers, able to combat the epidemic of chronic disease, the Bachelor of Health Sciences (QTAC code 729002) now includes nutrition as a major area of study. The nutrition major will include courses in areas such as Food Sciences, Biochemistry, Nutrition and Disease, Endocrinology, Physiology and Exercise Physiology.
Graduates who have studied this major may work in a variety of settings and fields, including community nutrition, health promotion and the food industry.
The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nutrition) has been designed as a pathway for entry into UQ’s new Master of Dietetic Studies. This postgraduate qualification will enable professional registration as a Dietician with the Dietetics Association of Australia (DAA) and exciting careers in clinical and private dietetics practice.
Due to the excellent foundation in health provided by the Bachelor of Health Sciences, it is considered a preferred pathway to UQ’s medical program. It can also be used as a launch-pad into other clinical careers such as physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
