Ipswich RSLA Scholarship - UQ Ipswich Campus, The University of Queensland

in the Bachelor of Nursing

IPSWICH RSLA SUB BRANCH SCHOLARSHIP IN NURSING

(Established in 2005 and maintained by an annual gift from Ipswich RSLA Sub Branch to encourage undergraduate study in nursing at The University of Queensland, Ipswich campus.)

1.     The scholarship is awarded annually by Senate on the recommendation of a selection committee consisting of -
        (a)   Head, School of Nursing and Midwifery (the Head) (as chair of the committee); and
        (b)   at least 2 representatives from the Ipswich campus as nominated by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor; and

2.     The scholarship is open to students who -
        (a)   are domestic students as defined in the Fee Rules; and
        (b)   are about to enter the second year or honours year of the Bachelor of Nursing; and
        (c)   have a family line to a War Veteran or ex-service person or serving person; and
        (d)   are able to demonstrate financial need; and
        (e)   are preferably current residents of the Ipswich/Moreton region encompassing Ipswich City, Esk, Laidley and Boonah Shires.

3.     The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by -
        (a)   academic achievement in their program to date; and
        (b)   personal qualities including community involvement, career aspirations, leadership and presentation skills; and
        (c)   such other evidence as may be deemed relevant to future success in the nursing profession.

4. Applications must be lodged in the year of the award by the date set by the Head.

5. The value of the scholarship is $5,000 for one year.

6. The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another scholarship or award valued at more than $5,000 per annum.

7. The recipient may be offered vacation placement in a health care facility nominated by the Ipswich RSLA Sub Branch.
