Application Form
(Established in 1999 and maintained by an annual gift of $5000 from the Ipswich City Council to encourage undergraduate study at The University of Queensland, Ipswich Campus and to encourage educational development in skill shortage areas in the Ipswich region)
1. The scholarship is awarded annually by Senate on the recommendation of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ipswich.
2. To assist in the selection process, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Academic must establish a selection committee comprising the PVC Academic (who shall chair the selection committee) or nominee, an Ipswich Campus representative and a representative from the Ipswich City Council.
3. The scholarship is open to students who:
(a) are domestic students as defined in the Fee Rules; and
(b) are current residents of the Ipswich/Moreton region encompassing Ipswich City, Esk, Laidley and Boonah Shires; and
(c) are enrolled full-time; and
(d) intend to enter the second year of an undergraduate program administered by the Ipswich Campus, in the year of the award.
4. The scholarship is awarded, at the discretion of the selection committee, to the applicant showing the greatest merit, as demonstrated by:
(a) academic achievement during the first 2 semesters of the program; and
(b) personal qualities, including leadership potential, community involvement, career aspirations, presentation skills by contribution
to the Ipswich community, commitment to social justice principles and/or bringing people from diverse backgrounds
together;and
(c) personal statement, 500 words or less, demonstrating how the scholarship funds will benefit future study; and
(d) other evidence as may be deemed relevant to the professional success of the applicant.
5. Applications must be lodged with, and by the date set by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
6. The scholarship is tenable for one year, subject to satisfactory academic progress and continued full-time enrolment at the Ipswich Campus. Satisfactory academic progress means maintaining a GPA of at least 4 each semester.
7. A recipient failing to maintain satisfactory academic progress may be required to show cause why the scholarship should not be cancelled.
8.Ipswich City Council may offer the recipient –
(a) vacation placement; and
(b) ambassadorial roles,
at sites and for periods during the duration of the scholarship determined by the Ipswich City Council in consultation with the
recipient and the relevant Head of School.
9. The scholarship cannot be held concurrently with another similar scholarship.
10. The value of the scholarship is $5,000.

how the scholarship will assist you personally
and how you would become involved in the local Ipswich community.
