INTERNATIONALISATION AT THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (SONM)
Ipswich Campus 2009 Orientation at the SONM was highlighted by an afternoon ‘Cake, Coffee and Chat’ (3Cs) to warmly welcome new and continuing International Students.
The SONM has a very small international cohort – overall, 16 international students across our three programs in 2009. We have 7 new students this year in our Bachelor of Nursing program and ... And this is the BIG NEWS ... Our very first international Bachelor of Midwifery student, Ms Emily McPike, who comes to us from San Francisco, USA. We also welcome students from Canada, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, South Korea and Thailand.
The 3Cs will become a regular feature on our Orientation Calendar where international nursing students can meet and speak with Clinical Lecturers from across our many partner hospitals and also meet and speak with School Administrative staff – all of whom who play a vital role in ensuring a smooth assimilation into the SONM at Ipswich.
For more information about internationalisation at the SONM contact Senior Lecturer Dr Anthony G Tuckett, International Coordinator [Academic] or Senior Administration Officer [Academic] Ms Janelle Valentine.
