UQ Ipswich is committed to fostering strong relationships with the local and surrounding professional and civic communities.
This relationship is enhanced through various partnerships, sponsorships and activities between the Ipswich campus and business, government, industry and civic representatives.
This support has helped the University with the major task of developing a new campus, with new programs, technologies, and ways of teaching.
COMMUNITY LINKAGES
The UQ Boilerhouse Community Engagement Centre is at the focal point of community interaction, engaging with diverse stakeholders from the private, public and community sectors in developing informed and collaborative responses to both existing and emerging community issues.
The Campus has recently partnered with a number of education providers, businesses and government organisations to form the Ipswich Region Education and Training Cluster (Study Ipswich Queensland). The network aims to attract international and domestic students to the Ipswich region by promoting attractive pathways and educational opportunities to students.
COMMUNITY USE OF FACILITIES
The University also welcomes all students, staff; business organisations; local community groups; and student groups associated with the University; interested in utilising the teaching facilities at St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton campuses. The UQ Boilerhouse community space is also available for community groups to use. For bookings or more information, contact the Campus Operations Officer in the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ipswich (telephone +61 7 3381 1333).
The Ipswich Activity Centre is also available for use by members of the public and community groups. The Centre is an ideal location for public activities and events on a small scale, and a facility for multi-faith activities. For bookings or more information, contact the Campus Operations Officer in the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ipswich (telephone +61 7 3381 1333).
UQ Ipswich, with its focus on learning, technology, culture and heritage, fits well with a city known for such initiatives as Global Info-Links, a leading Australian community-based Internet provider, and the innovative Global Arts Link, the nation's first art museum to incorporate new interactive and multimedia technologies. UQ Ipswich offers a first-class education and qualifications second to none; and the Ipswich community can access its rich built heritage, the campus sporting facilities, and a range of new ideas and knowledge.
The interaction and involvement of local businesses and community leaders is invaluable in developing a campus that meets the aspirations of community, business and the University.
