Over $150,000 has been generated by the Ipswich community over the past five years to support students at The University of Queensland Ipswich Campus.
Individuals, businesses and organisations within the region have rallied their support for the Campus and its students since the Campus’ inaugural Scholarship and Prizes Award Ceremony in 2002.
Since this time, close to $200,000 has been awarded to students at the Campus, through the form of scholarships, bursaries and prizes.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Ipswich Professor Alan Rix praised the businesses and organisations within the region for their support and commitment to students at the Ipswich Campus.
He acknowledged the work of the Friends of UQ Ipswich, in particular Ms Jan Akroyd-Bailey and Mr Gerard Pender, who were incessant in their pursuit of scholarship funding for students during the first few years of the Campus’ development.
“It is this level of support which places the Campus in the opportune position of boasting strong links with the local community which has resultant benefits for our students,” Professor Rix said.
“We sincerely thank these businesses and organisations for their ongoing commitment to the Campus and our students.”
