Bachelor of Business student Stephen Harling has developed an interactive website to get UQ Ipswich students more involved in the community through sport.
Being a sports enthusiast, Harling played sport through school and local clubs in Toowoomba before commencing his university studies at UQ Ipswich.
Stephen knows the ability sport has in bringing people together as well as improving community engagement.
He said, ‘The Students Sport’ is a website dedicated to promoting sporting activities whether they are on campus or in the Ipswich region.”
“By teaming up with the students and local sporting clubs in the local area, we aim to bring the students at our Ipswich campus similar sporting opportunities seen at the UQ St Lucia and Gatton campuses,” Steven said.
The website, http://thestudentssport.webs.com is a direct result of Steve’s desire to create a more vibrant sporting and social atmosphere on the UQ Ipswich Campus.
“Sporting clubs and organisations can advertise their competitions and let the students know about opportunities to join their clubs through the website”, added Stephen
“It’s free of charge and they can benefit just as much as the students with the aim of developing greater liaison between the campus and the community.”
Anyone who would like to become involved with the website and associated sporting events Stephen would love to hear from you. For further information visit the website or email (thestudentssport@gmail.com)
