 IT Facilities


The Univeristy provides a number of computer and multimedia labs for both staff and student use. While using all University computing facilities you much follow both the user guidelines and Internet Code of Conduct.

User Guidelines

Computing facilities are provided for work, prescribed for the course of study. It is an offence to use the facilities in any way which might adversely affect the work of another student or staff member, compromise the security of user or system data, or interfere with the management or operation of a facility.

Campus computing facilities are provided exclusively for University purposes only and the equipment must not be misused. This includes the following lab rules:

  • NO food or drink (except bottled water) in any computer laboratories/areas
  • Turn off mobile phones whilst in public learning areas
  • Playing of Games and watching Movies is NOT permitted
  • Do not leave machines unattended for longer than 15 minutes
  • CD writers are NOT to be used for private purposes
  • CD writers may only be used for backing up University coursework
  • Do not leave personal belongings unattended
  • Pornographic, gaming, gambling and streaming media (ie music, video & movie trailer) sites are strictly forbidden

*You will be asked to vacate the computer if not complying with Lab Rules*

Use of the UQ network (UQNet) to access the Internet and Internet services, including electronic mail and the World Wide Web, is governed by the Internet Code of Practice. Failure to abide by the Internet Code of Practice may result in suspension of an Internet account or loss of account, disciplinary action and, if necessary, a report to the relevant law enforcement authority.
