UQ’s goal in engaging with India over the next five years is to establish its profile, priority partnerships and long term commitment to engagement with quality Indian research and education institutions. Holistic engagement is our goal, reflecting both UQ’s strengths and capabilities in the sciences and social sciences, arts and humanities. The University of Queensland is committed to advancing research collaborations with our Indian partners and together look to solve global challenges.
Outcomes from this strategy include: an increase in externally-funded research projects; an increase in joint publications; an increase in high quality postgraduate coursework and RHD students; and an increase in mobility of students and staff

UQ does not intend to prioritise program delivery in India other than in high profile, high quality collaborative programs.

The University of Queensland is committed to forging strong, longstanding alliances with government, institutions and alumni throughout the USA and Canada to strengthen research outcomes, generate student exchange opportunities, build esteem, grow reputational support and foster continued excellence in teaching and learning.

The University of Queensland is advancing its international engagement activities in North America with the development of a formal strategy to expand highly valued linkages and partnerships. The University's strategy in the region will encourage and support research collaboration and commercialisation; foster student exchange; and rally the support of the University's USA‐based community of alumni and friends.

Core components of this strategy involve the opening of a University of Queensland USA office at 805 15th Street NW in Washington, DC. The office officially opened in June 2011 and is now fully operational.

The strategic objectives of the office are to:

  • Further research collaboration outcomes;
  • Facilitate strategic education partnerships;
  • Facilitate philanthropic investment; and
  • Increase university staff and student mobility with UQ’s North American partner institutions and organisations.

The University of Queensland is currently involved in over 2,300 research projects with collaborators in more than 50 countries, $43 million of which involve a USA-based partner. In the US, the University of Queensland has over 80 agreements with US institutions, and roughly 46 US partnerships with universities, corporations and organisations – including the University of California system, and the Boeing Corporation, to name a few.
