Getting started and orientation

“O Week” is a University-wide celebration for both international and domestic students who are beginning their studies at UQ. Held in the the week before the start of Semesters 1 and 2, it is an excellent opportunity to meet people and make friends soon after arrival in Brisbane. Highlights include: > campus tours and training sessions which teach students how to find and use key campus facilities such as the Library, Student Centres, the computing network and teaching facilities For International students
Following the official welcome, separate orientation sessions are held for full degree, and Study Abroad and Exchange students. These sessions offer more specific information and advice on issues such as enrolment, the Library, learning assistance, and living, working and travelling in Australia.

There are numerous support services for newly arrived students along with a comprehensive orientation program which takes place before classes begin each semester. Students can also take advantage of free academic and communication preparation programs (refer to the orientation link below), offered in the weeks prior to the commencement of each semester.
