Compulsory Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
|
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is insurance that provides basic cover for medical and hospital care costs which international students may need while in Australia. OSHC is a compulsory requirement for a student visa and is available from any government-approved OSHC provider.** OSHC covers students from the time they arrive in Australia only. Travel insurance is also strongly recommended to provide cover during transit. More information about the Australian health system and health insurance will be provided during Orientation. Further general information about OSHC is available on the Department of Health and Ageing website at www.health.gov.au. OSHC Worldcare The University’s Letter of Offer shows the OSHC Worldcare fee for program-length cover of OSHC along with the program deposit amount which is part of the student’s tuition fees. When the deposit and OSHC have been paid and the signed Agreement and Response to Offer (ARO) is returned, the University indicates on the student’s Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) that the OSHC has been paid and this is sufficient for the student visa application . Students receive information about obtaining their OSHC Worldcare membership cards during Orientation at UQ.
