Applications for research higher degree programs may be made at any time throughout the year.

Find your research advisor
Use the UQ reSEARCHers online database to find a potential advisor.
Complete an *Expression of Interest Form (from the Graduate School website) and submit it to the faculty, school, or institute which best matches your research interests. This form helps the school/institute to match your research interests and experience to advisors and resources.

*Applicants to the Schools of Dentistry, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Human Movement Studies, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, Pharmacy, or Population Health do NOT complete this form. Instead, please contact the school postgraduate administrator in the first instance.
Develop your research proposal
If your Expression of Interest is successful you will be invited by the school, institute or faculty to further develop your research proposal.

Your research proposal should describe the components necessary for a successful research candidature, including:
1. A research project in which:
  - the significance of the research question is appropriate to the degree,
  - the research methodology is academically strong,
  - the expected outcomes are described, and
  - the research work can be completed within the program/scholarship duration
2. The academic experts who will contribute to the research
3. The facilities and resources required to complete the research
4. Evidence of sufficient funds from school/institute to meet research expenses
Complete the application for enrolment
If your research proposal is approved, you will be invited to formally apply for admission to UQ.
