International students currently undertaking Year 12 studies in Australia must apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) for a place at UQ.

Assessment of Applications 

The UQ International Admissions Section (IAS) will assess whether applicants meet the criteria for entry to undergraduate programs at UQ and make offers to eligible applicants.

English language achievement in Year 12 or equivalent

  • Students who do not expect to achieve 4 semesters of Sound Achievement in English (Queensland Studies Authority or interstate equivalent) are advised to take an IELTS test and organise for official IELTS results to be sent to IAS at UQ before the end of October. Updating contact details

Until results are released in December, students returning to their home country should update QTAC with their new mailing addresses using the Current Applicant online service.

After results have been released, please send any change to mailing address directly to UQ via  yr12international@uq.edu.au quoting:

  • your full name,
  • date of birth and
  • QTAC application number or UQ student ID if known

Completing Years 11 and 12 in different Australian states

Students who have not completed both Years 11 and 12 in the same state in Australia should provide UQ International Admissions Section with certified copies of transcripts of equivalent Year 11 and/or Year 12 studies undertaken. Documents not in English must be accompanied by official English language translations.

How can I change my preferences?

You can change your preferences on the QTAC website until 14 December 2012. After this date, please send any change to UQ preferences directly to UQ via email yr12international@uq.edu.au quoting:

  • your full name,
  • date of birth and
  • QTAC application number or UQ student ID if known)
