Undergraduate entry requirements for international students
How do I know if I am eligible for entry to an undergraduate program at UQ?
To be eligible for entry to an undergraduate program at UQ as an international student, you must have:
- Completed recognised upper secondary or equivalent Year 12 studies to the required standard
- Satisfied English language requirements
- Satisfied individual program requirements.
If you are an international student currently studying year 12 in Australia, you must achieve the entry overall position (OP) or tertiary entrance rank (TER) cut-off determined for each program.
A small number of programs have limited (quota) places available. In these instances you might night need to meet a higher standard than the minimum required to gain entry.
A small number of programs require higher levels of English language proficiency.
Find out specific program requirements on the relevant program page on the Courses and Programs website or download a copy of the 2013 Minimum Entry Requirements for International Undergraduate Programs table [PDF]. Please also check the Australian Year 12 Subject Equivalents table.
UQ assesses applications on a case-by-case basis. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee entry to the University's undergraduate programs.
What if I do not meet the academic requirements?
If you do not meet academic entry requirements, you may consider taking the Certificate IV in University Preparation (UQ Foundation Year) offered by International Education Services (IES).
If you wish to study the Bachelor of Business Management at UQ but do not meet the entry requirements, you may enrol in the UQ accredited Associate Degree in Business program. Delivered by UQ College at the UQ Ipswich campus, this program can be a standalone qualification, or pathway into the fourth semester of UQ’s Bachelor of Business Management.
If you are an international year 12 student, please visit the Alternative pathways to entry page for other possibilities for gaining entry to a UQ program.
What if I do not meet the English language requirements?
If you do not meet the minimum English language requirements for your UQ degree, you may be issued with a Package Offer consisting of a period of English language study at ICTE-UQ and your principal UQ program.
Please note that package offers will only be issued where the only outstanding requirement for UQ admission is English.
View English Pathways to UQ for more information.
