Orientation Week (O-Week) is a University-wide celebration for international and domestic students who are beginning their studies at UQ.

O-Week offers you social, sporting, study and support sessions and events to help you get familiar with the campus, meet people, get prepared for study, find out who’s there to help and most importantly have fun!

O-Week is held in the week before the start of Semesters 1 and 2. Be part of this university-wide celebration to meet people and make friends soon after your arrival in Brisbane.

International and incoming Study Abroad and Exchange students must attend a 'Getting Started' information session conducted by Student Services.

Compulsory information and welcome sessions will be held by your Faculty or School.

Attending orientation is an important step of starting university. Activities include:

  • Compulsory international student sessions.
  • Special sessions for international students on finding part-time work, safety, and the Australian health system.
  • Faculty, School and Study Abroad and Exchange welcome sessions.
  • Campus tours.
  • Information sessions on: Accommodation Services, Health Services, Student Services, UQ Union, UQ Library, UQ Sport, IT Services and more.

Be sure to attend Market Day during O-Week where there will be countless sign-up stalls for clubs and societies, barbeques, entertainment, giveaways and demonstrations on offer. This is a great opportunity to meet other students, make new friends and settle in to life at UQ.

Go to the Orientation website to start exploring.

The online Orientation Planner helps you create your own O-Week plan. It will help you find the faculty or school activities relevant to your program of study. Also look for any that might match your interests.

If you are an incoming Study Abroad and Exchange student, please select your program, Study Abroad and Exchange,  from the drop down box under St Lucia Programs or St Lucia Faculties for a listing of all the activities relevant to you.

Go online before O-Week and see the line-up so you can plan exactly when and where on campus you need to be!
