Food

Queensland’s thriving multicultural community is reflected in UQ’s wide variety of on-campus food outlets.

If you have special dietary requirements, International Student Advisors can help you locate suitable food, including kosher, halal, vegetarian, and organic produce.

The Ipswich campus has a student bar, refectory, and café. Club Med Café operates at UQ Herston, and a dining hall and café are available at UQ Gatton.

Shopping and banking

UQ has a wide rane of services and facilities in each of its four campuses

UQ St Lucia has may shops, two banks, a credit union, several automatic teller or banking machines (ATM), as well as a post office, pub, pharmacy, optometrist, print shop, hairdresser, theatre, and travel agent. Cafes and grocery stores are a short walk or bus ride away.

UQ Ipswich offers food outlets, an ATM, and a document-binding service, and is only a short distance from shops in the Ipswich city centre.

UQ Gatton has a bank, credit union, bookshop, post office, and food outlets.

Bookshops

You will probably need to buy textbooks and other equipment for your studies, but there are ways you can save money. For example, books suggested for reference only can be found in the UQ Library.

You can buy secondhand books and other equipment, such as laboratory coats, at the Secondhand Bookshop.

You can also find your study material at the University Co-operative Bookshop.
