Please see the Important dates page for a timeline for the application and offer procedures.
Assessment of Applications
The UQ International Admissions Section (IAS) will assess whether applicants meet the criteria for entry to undergraduate programs at UQ and make offers to eligible applicants.
When will I get an offer?
Your QTAC application details and Queensland or interstate Year 12 results are sent electronically to UQ as soon as they become available.
All applications for international students will be assessed by the International Admissions Section. If you are eligible for one of your UQ preferences you will be emailed a letter of offer in late December.
If you receive an unconditional offer it means you have satisfied all the entry requirements for your program and you are ready to accept your offer.
If you receive a conditional offer it means you must still satisfy one or more of the entry requirements for your program. The requirements will be listed clearly on your offer letter. Once you have satisfied the listed conditions, you will be ready to accept your offer.
What if I don't get the right OP or don’t satisfy all the prerequisites?
Please see the Alternative pathways to entry page for other possibilities for gaining entry to a UQ program.
If your entry rank from secondary, post-secondary or bridging studies is insufficient to gain a place in your preferred program, you may improve your entry rank by undertaking studies in another degree program for which you do have a competitive entry rank with the intention to ‘upgrade’.
In order to upgrade with tertiary study, it is recommended that you complete at least one full-time year of study with suitable results to improve your entry rank.
Second round offers
Please see information on ‘Cut-offs for year 12 International students in Australia’.
What if I don't receive an offer?
If you do not receive a letter of offer from UQ, and you are expecting one, please email yr12international@uq.edu.au in early January. You should include the following information so we can provide feedback:
- your full name,
- date of birth and
- your preferred UQ program
If you miss out on a place in your program of choice, there are further options for you to consider. You might consider upgrading or enrolling in UQ’s Foundation Program.
