All new international students are strongly advised to arrive at least 3-4 weeks before the commencement of classes. You will need enough time to secure permanent accommodation, become acquainted with your new surroundings and attend the orientation programs before classes begin.
Please note: Some semester timetables may vary slightly depending on the course you are enrolling in (eg Faculty of Health and the School of Education). Please refer to your Faculty to confirm your program commencement date.

Accommodation
| Accommodation arrangements |
| Arrival and temporary accommodation |
Before arrival, ensure you have booked free airport reception and temporary accommodation through UQ's Accommodation Services.
|
| Renting |
We strongly recommend that rental accommodation only be arranged once you have arrived in Queensland. There is usually a wide range of rental properties, prices and locations advertised at any one time, and it is extremely difficult to make an informed decision about public transport, value for money, safety etc without being on location. Please note: The rental accommodation market in Brisbane is competitive and you may need time to secure accommodation.

Pre-Semester Programs
If you plan to attend the free English Programs or Academic Preparation Program (APP), and have not secured permanent housing before arrival, plan to arrive 2 weeks before the start of these programs to allow time to find permanent housing and settle in. Please see below for program start dates:
