Visas for families

Students may be able to bring their spouse and dependent children to Australia. They may be able to be included in your visa application, or a separate application may need to be lodged if they join you at a later stage. Please see DIAC: Bringing Family.

Before applying for dependant visas issued in your home country, you need to show evidence of Family Overseas Student Health Cover. For more information, see: OSHC Worldcare (or your preferred OSHC provider). If you are in Australia, you may visit the OSHC Help Desk, located in the Student Centre on the St Lucia campus.

Dependent family members who join you in Australia on student visas are usually able to stay the same length of time as you, but they cannot stay if you have departed the country, for instance when you are granted leave of absence or after your have completed your course.

See DIAC for more information: Visa conditions for family member
