Language support for spouses

Free English Conversation classes

This support service is a great way to practice English and make friends in a welcoming environment. Experienced volunteer tutors provide free and informal conversational English classes for spouses of International Students or other visiting family members, as well as for visiting professors, international staff members and research fellows. Details are as follows:

Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays during State School terms
Venue: Alumni Centre, 50 Walcott Street, St Lucia (Building 91C)

Gatton area

There are free and informal English conversation classes in Gatton Town which is open to all members of the Gatton community. No need to register, just come along, new members are always welcome! Details are as follows:

Time: 5.30pm – 7.30pm every Wednesday night
Venue: Gatton Centre, 12 William St, Gatton.

The Gatton Centre also has other community facilities such as a cheap Internet Café, Table tennis and pool tables. It is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights from 5.30pm – 7.30pm and is a great place to meet people, socialise, use the Internet and practice your English!

The Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) on the St Lucia campus also offers a comprehensive range of English language programs (fees may apply).
