All students are advised to look at the Graduations website for information on Graduation ceremony dates, academic dress and other requirements.
If your Student Visa is about to expire and you are intending to attend your graduation ceremony or wishing to have a holiday in Australia, you must apply for a Visitor’s Visa. For more information on how to apply, please visit the DIAC website
Eligibility to graduate
All students eligible to graduate in the July or December ceremonies receive notification from the University. This includes information on the date and time of your ceremony and advice about academic dress. Your eligibility to graduate is determined by your Faculty which then informs the Graduations Section. The Graduations section will then send an email to your student email account. If you have indicated your eligibility to graduate by setting the current semester to your "Expected Graduation Term" on mySI-net or if you are within two units of completing your program, your academic record and other information will be checked by your faculty and a decision made on your eligibility to graduate. Students undertaking dual degrees should note there are some differences in the way their graduation processes are organised. For more information, go to the “Dual degree” graduation section on the graduations web site.
If you have not received any information four (4) weeks prior to the ceremony date and your student number is not included on the list on the Graduation section web site, please contact the Student Centre or your faculty office to determine whether you are eligible to graduate. It is a good idea to go to your faculty to have a graduation check in your last semester of study, just to make sure.

Graduation application form
Most potential graduands will be sent an email to their student email account during the last week of classes. This email will invite you to complete the ‘Graduation Application form’ via mySI-net. Some potential graduands (e.g. PhD and MPhil graduates) will not be able to access the online form through mySI-net and will receive a paper form. If you are a dual degree student and you plan on attending your graduation ceremony, you should first see the Dual Degree Graduation information on the Graduations web site for more information. The Graduation Application form will ask whether you wish to attend your graduation ceremony or have your certificate mailed out to you.
NOTE: As an international student, you can also indicate if wish to attend one of the overseas graduation ceremonies held in various countries around September each year. It is possible to attend both a local and an overseas graduation ceremony. For more information visit the Graduations website
You must complete the 'Graduation application form' even if you don't think you will graduate or don't want to attend a ceremony. If you believe that you will graduate but cannot find the form at mySI-net, you should contact the Graduations Section. Do not wait until your results are confirmed before completing the form as this can adversely affect your attendance at your ceremony. After you return the form, you will be able to check your eligibility to graduate one week prior to the graduation ceremony dates via the graduations web pages. If you are eligible to graduate, you can collect your written final confirmation and (free) guest tickets from the Student Centre on your campus. You can check your details via mySI-net or via the Graduations web pages. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for your details to be updated on the Graduations web pages after submitting the form.
If you do not attend a graduation ceremony in person, your certificate and academic transcript will be mailed to you in the week after the graduation ceremonies finish. Graduations aim to have all certificates and transcripts mailed as soon as possible but cannot say when individual certificates will be mailed. In order to receive your certificate it is imperative you keep your mailing address details up-to-date in mySI-net.

Photographs
All graduands are photographed on stage as they receive their degrees from by Silver Rose Photography - a private photographic company contracted to the University for this purpose. As they leave the stage, graduands are handed details on how to order photographs. Graduation portraits can be taken before or after the ceremony by Silver Rose underneath the UQ Centre. Due to space restrictions, graduands are reminded that other commercial photographers are not permitted inside venues and guests are encouraged not to take photographs themselves during the ceremony in consideration of other audience members.
