If you are residing off campus, you may need to disconnect utilities and ensure you receive your deposit money back. More information is provided below.
| Disconnecting utilities and getting your deposits back |
| Telstra |
The balance of your account will be deducted from your security deposit (if you paid one). You will be asked to provide your overseas forwarding address and a cheque for the rest of your security deposit or a bill will be posted to you. You can send a money order or cheque back to Telstra or pay over the Internet.
Telstra telephone: 12 22 00
|
| Optus |
Only the person whose name is on the account should ring. Two to three weeks before you are leaving, notify Optus, so they can disconnect your STD/IDD facility and finalise your bill. Tell the operator at Optus what day you are moving out, and ask them to check on call costs up to the day you call.
Optus telephone: 13 30 66

| Other telephone providers |
Contact other providers to find out their process for disconnection and finalising accounts (eg mobile phone accounts)
|
| Gas and electricity |
Telephone the appropriate companies and arrange a time to get final gas/electricity meter readings (usually best on the day you are leaving your accommodation), and leave a forwarding address. You can settle the account before you leave, or they will send the bill to your overseas forwarding address.
