The Academic Dress Hire Service rents Academic Regalia suitable for the University of Queensland. If you will attend your graduation ceremony, you will be expected to wear the appropriate academic dress. You are responsible for organising the hire and collection of your academic gown prior to your graduation ceremony. You will receive advice about Academic Dress Hire along with the instructions for completing the Graduation Application form. The Academic Dress Hire form is available online, and must be returned with your payment. Do not wait until your results have been confirmed before ordering academic dress. All academic dress items must be pre-ordered and pre-paid two weeks prior to your graduation date.
You can collect your academic dress on the day of your ceremony from 11.00am. Academic dress should be collected no later than 90 minutes prior to ceremony. You can have the items for up to one hour after the graduation ceremony finishes to take photo’s etc.
If you cannot attend your graduation ceremony, you may hire the academic gown and have friends or a professional photographer take your photo. If you want to hire academic dress without attending your graduation ceremony, please organise this well before the graduation dates to ensure availability of gowns. Please note that Academic Dress Hire does not take photographs and you must arrange that yourself with either a professional photographer or friends.
