What it costs

Students of the studio-based Bachelor of Multimedia Design use state-of-the-art technology to create highly sophisticated interactive projects.

What is Multimedia Design?

Multimedia Design is everywhere. Whether it is building a corporate presence on the web, developing mobile apps or designing new ways to interact with digital information, multimedia design is central to creatively engaging an audience.  It’s in computer games, mobile apps, television commercials, movie special effects, websites, animation and even music video clips.

Multimedia Design uses information technology and computing to create animation, special effects, sound production, 3D modelling, Internet-authoring, game design and more.

Studio-based learning

UQ’s Bachelor of Multimedia Design is a studio-based program providing students with the knowledge and skills to become the designers and the architects and users of highly sophisticated multimedia products.

The major focus of the program is on the integration of theory and technology and their practical application in design projects. You can choose from a wide range of study areas including: design thinking, graphic design, digital prototyping, physical computing, internet authoring, human-computer interaction, and social and mobile computing. You will work on a number of individual and team projects in a studio environment. During the program you will build a portfolio of many different projects and may also undertake projects with industry clients, or as an intern on industry placement.

As a UQ Multimedia Design graduate, you will be multi-skilled with a broad understanding of the integrated processes involved within the human-centred design of interactive systems using multimedia information and communications technologies. Demand for this high level of expertise is increasing worldwide.
