What it costs

The Bachelor of Engineering offers ICT majors in the areas of Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Software Systems & Aerospace, and Mechatronic Engineering.

The UQ Bachelor of Engineering degree is highly regarded and provides students with excellent employment prospects. We emphasise the development of graduates with skills in communication, teamwork, project management, problem solving, as well as technical expertise. Students can choose from 18 engineering specialisations/study areas (single, dual and extended majors).

The first year of the Bachelor of Engineering provides students with a strong foundation in defined core engineering courses, and introduces students to the way professional engineers think and work. A significant learning component of first year engineering is built around two engineering practice courses involving physical prototyping and modelling. Students work in teams on discipline specific projects that can be scaled up and applied to real world situations, like developing an autonomous trash-collecting robot boat to be used after an oil spill. The flexible first year plan offers students the opportunity to experience the many flavours of engineering before deciding on a specialisation prior to the start of their second year.

Work experience opportunities

Students of the Bachelor of Engineering have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in the work-based learning program CEED (Cooperative Education for Enterprise Development) Placement Program.

Career pathways

Our graduates find employment in areas such as telecommunications; games development; security and surveillance; aerospace and defence; robotics and intelligent systems; electrical power generation, transmission and distribution; and biomedical engineering.

Professional accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering program is accredited by Engineers Australia and the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the recognised association for ICT professionals, with a large and active membership. Our graduates are eligible to become associates of the ACS upon graduation and full professional members after four years of relevant experience.

Majors

The Bachelor of Engineering offers the largest choice of engineering specialisations in Queensland, with 17 different majors and dual majors. ICT-related majors of the Bachelor of Engineering are:

Dual degrees

Dual programs enable you to study for two degrees at the same time. The Bachelor of Engineering may be taken as a dual program with a number of programs.
