CS4HS - Computer Science for High Schools

The UQ CS4HS Workshop is a free professional development program for teachers with an interest in ICT/Computer Science sponsored by Google. The program will run over two consecutive days, with a follow-up session a few months after the actual workshop.

The CS4HS Workshop will have three main focuses:

  • DATABASES
  • APP DEVELOPMENT
  • INTERACTION DESIGN AND MICRO CONTROLLERS

The two-day program with plenty of hands-on and interactive sessions will provide participants with many opportunities to interact and discuss their own teaching of Computer Science.

Teachers will receive workshop material to bring back to their classrooms. With little adaptation, the material can easily be used for individual classes needs.

The CS4HS Workshop is free of charge. Travel grants are available to teachers from remote areas.

The program is sponsored by a Google CS4HS grant and the UQ School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering’s school engagement program.

Cost: Free of charge! Travel grants available to teachers from remote areas
Registration: Limited to 35 places. Call for Expressions of Interest will be announced soon. EOIs will need to be submitted by 25 June 2012 to schools@eait.uq.edu.au. The form will be available for download on this page.

17 OCT 2012 –FOLLOW UP SESSION
Participants and CS4HS presenters will meet again on October 17 to discuss the success of the workshop, follow up on questions and help plan for future years. The Follow Up Session will be held from 4.30-6pm on 17 October 2012 – just before the ICT Educators’ Dinner.
