The School offers postgraduate coursework programs for students who already have a university degree, through coursework (attending classes and doing projects). The program you choose will depend both on your qualifications and on the future use you want to make of your study. All these programmes can be followed full time or part time and can be commenced in any semester.

Postgraduate coursework programs in the School of History, Philosophy, Religion, and Classics assume no prior experience at undergraduate level of the relevant discipline.

Postgraduate coursework study can lead to a variety of degrees, diplomas and certificates. These qualifications can all be taken full or part time, and may be commenced in any semester. A Masters coursework degree with a significant research component can lead to admission to a research higher degree.

There are three kinds of Graduate program offered in the School:

Graduate Certificate in Arts: this program is equivalent to one semester's full time study and is based on regular classes.

Graduate Diploma in Arts: this programme is equivalent to one year's full time study and is based on regular classes (though there is also opportunity for independent project work).

Master of Arts: this program is equivalent to one-and-a-half year's full time study and is based on regular classes, with the opportunity for independent project and research work.

Most Masters courses are double-coded with undergraduate courses, but offer a variety of specialised attributes for Masters students, which can include special teaching arrangements.

Programs are offered in the following fields

Ethics
Ancient History
History
Philosophy
Studies in Religion
Humanities

Up to 25% of the program requirements may be fulfilled by taking advanced (2000-level and above) undergraduate courses within the discipline.
