STAFF H1N1 FLU VACCINATION PROGRAM

The University of Queensland is offering full time and part time staff

Pandemic (H1N1 FLU VACCINATION)Clinics

Available at St Lucia, the JKMRC and the Dental School. Please contact the Health Services at Gatton or Ipswich if you work at either of these campuses.

Information about the vaccine is available by downloading page 1and page 2 of the Panavax information form.

A consent form is available when attending the appointment.

The free Panvax vaccine is also available at most general practitioner surgeries . Information about the vaccine is available at:
www.healthemergency.gov.au

It is recommended that all UQ staff working in a health care setting with patient contact should have the vaccine as soon as possible.

Some people more at risk of severe outcomes are strongly recommended to have the vaccine as soon as possible and these include the following:

  • Pregnant women
  • Indigenous Australians
  • Parents and guardians of infants up to six months old
  • Community care workers
  • People who are severely obese
People with underlying chronic conditions, including:
  • Heart disease;
  • Asthma and other lung diseases;
  • Cancer;
  • Diabetes;
  • Kidney disease;
  • Neurological disease;
  • Other chronic conditions (talk to your GP)
In addition anybody who wishes to protect themselves against this strain of influenza can be vaccinated.
