Alert for Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

Whooping cough (or pertussis) is a highly contagious respiratory infection. It causes a persistent irritating cough for adolescents and adults, which can persist for weeks. The infection can be life threatening for babies and young children, particularly those not fully protected by vaccination. It is recommended that anyone with contact with babies and young children particularly Healthcare Workers have the immunisation.
