School of Nursing, reading glasses donation - Juba Teaching Hospital, Sudan
School of Nursing
The School of Nursing collected 120 pairs of reading glasses from staff in late 2005 to donate to the Juba Teaching Hospital (JTH) in Sudan. Barb McMaster delivered these glasses and sends a big thank-you to everyone who donated them. The JTH is undergoing a major renovation after 20 years of war, and the Ophthalmology Department is amongst the first to be renovated. One of the Ophthalmology Medical Assistants is very excited about the glasses and as soon as a visit can be coordinated, Barb will take the glasses there for measuring. They will then be returned to JTH, where someone in great need will receive them.
In early 2005 the School of Nursing sent teaching manuals and copies of Nursing Journals to Juba. These were all generously donated by School of Nursing staff. The School also sent a UQ Nursing polo shirt which is now proudly worn by members of the hospital staff in Juba.
