Speech pathologists work with
individuals of all ages who have a communication disorder or difficulty
in swallowing food and drink. Communication disorders include difficulties
with speech, voice, hearing, language use, reading or writing. The speech
pathologist assists in achieving optimal communication for each client.
Speech pathologists work in a range of settings including:
- private practice
- public and private hospitals\
- community health centres
- rehabilitation centres
- schools and
- special education units
- nursing homes
- government departments
