The Faculty of Health Sciences offers a diverse range of health study and research opportunities. Traditional medical disciplines sit alongside specialised research and education centres in new and important fields such as online health, clinical research and veterans health.
The Faculty is fostering a new generation of health discoveries by pushing the boundaries of science and medicine. The Faculty is at the forefront of a new health era, one that is marked by powerful partnerships. Exciting collaborations between old, new and emerging health disciplines - molecular biology and medicine, genetics and public health, dentistry and nanotechnology - are reaping amazing medical breakthroughs.
Our researchers are forging new links with areas inside and outside the University - with UQ's internationally recognised Institute for Molecular Biology and other important research nodes here and around the world.
Our education of future health professionals also fosters an interprofessional approach. Health students experience working with their colleagues studying other disciplines. This helps prepare them to work as effective members of a healthcare team and provide optimum patient outcomes.
At UQ we have developed and continue to prioritise key international, national and state partnerships. In Queensland we have strong links with all the major public and private hospitals, key research institutions - the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB), the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, (AIBN), the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR), the Mater Medical Research Institute (MMRI), the Wesley Research Institute, the Gallipoli Foundation Greenslopes Private Hospital and many others.
These strategic relationships provide the necessary teaching and research resources for our health science students and researchers to excel.
