Fairbairn, Gavin J & Susan A. Fairbairn (2001) Reading at university: a guide for students, Open University Press: Buckingham, Philadelphia.
This guide looks at the different types of reading required at university in detail and offers a range of strategies for both reading and notetaking.

Marshall, Lorrain & Frances Rowland (1998) A guide to learning independently, 3rd ed., Longman: Melbourne.
This book examines what constitutes independent learning and provides tips for:

  • using libraries and other information sources
  • reading and listening in class
  • working in discussion groups
  • undertaking research
  • writing

Study Skills [videorecording] (1996) ABC: Sydney.
6 videocassettes covering orientation to tertiary study, using the library and technology, reading and note-taking, writing and referencing, exams and assessment.
