Once you've decided that study is for you, it's extremely useful to start thinking about how you'll go about managing your time for the upcoming semester. You do need to keep in mind though that time management is very individual, and what works for one person may not work for another. Some people take very careful note of their every activity on a daily basis and are fastidious about planning; others can keep a lot of 'planning' in their head and may not feel the need to use formal time management plans. Students may also be in significantly different situations. For example, many students have time-consuming professional and personal commitments, while others may not be in paid employment, have less demanding personal commitments and therefore appear to have large periods of 'free' time. For the former, juggling work, study, family and leisure poses its own restrictions, while for the latter, time may seem to weigh heavily. Each student therefore needs to assess their own situation and manage their time in a way that suits their personality and individual needs.
