Guests are advised that while ceremonies officially commence with the entrance of the Academic Procession, the Graduand Procession enters the hall approximately 20 minutes beforehand. Guests wishing to observe the entrance of the Graduand Procession should take their seats in the hall 30 minutes prior to the published starting time of the ceremony.
Doors to graduation venues are opened approximately one hour before each ceremony's commencement time. All venues are air-conditioned and there are large, air-conditioned foyers at UQ Centre and Ipswich Civic Hall and these are open at least two hours before each ceremony's commencement time. Families and friends of graduands are welcome to wait in the foyers for the venue doors to open. Seats are are not allocated and guests are seated on a 'first come, first served' basis. There is no air conditioning in the foyer of the Gatton Gymnasium. All graduands will process into the ceremony 20 minutes prior to its published starting time.
Please note that flash photography is not permitted during graduation ceremonies.
Light refreshments are available for purchase in the foyer of the UQ Centre on the St Lucia for one and half hours prior to the start of ceremonies. Food and drink cannot be taken into the ceremony.
If your guests have special needs or require wheelchair access, please contact Graduations Section. Toilet facilities are available at each graduation venue.
An access map is available for viewing for the St Lucia campus as well as campus maps for Gatton, Ipswich and Herston. If you have any queries regarding the graduation venues please contact the Graduations Section.
There are passenger pick-up and set-down zones at all venues. These are available only for the use of people of senior years or those with disabilities. If your guests require use of the zone for the UQ Ipswich ceremonies, again, please contact the Graduations Section.
All graduands are required to be in academic dress, registered to participate in the ceremony and be ready to be briefed about the ceremony at least 60 minutes prior to the ceremony's published commencement time.
