Preparing for graduation

The culmination of sometimes years of study is approaching - your graduation day. Graduations Section trusts you will enjoy your graduation and hopes the following information will help you plan for your special day.

The University holds two main rounds of graduation ceremonies each year. In July ceremonies are held at UQ Ipswich and St Lucia while in December ceremonies are held at all three campuses; UQ Gatton, UQ Ipswich and St Lucia. Gatton students attending ceremonies in July attend ceremonies on the St Lucia campus. Students completing their programs in Semester 1 attend the July ceremonies while students completing their programs in Semester 2 attend the December ones.

In 2009 a series of International  Celebrations will also held in various centres across Asia.

Dates and times of upcoming ceremonies can be viewed through Events or on the Ceremony dates and times section of this website. Please note that graduands enter the venue in a formal procession approximately 15 minutes before the official start time for each ceremony. Your guests should be seated 20 minutes before the official start time if they wish to observe the entrance of the graduands. If either you or your guests have special needs or require wheelchair access, please contact Graduations Section.

Ceremonies are held in the UQ Centre on the St Lucia campus, the Gymnasium at UQ Gatton and the Ipswich Civic Hall for UQ Ipswich programs.
